Charter Furniture relocates, streamlines operations
Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, July 29, 2010
Southern California-based Charter Furniture has moved to a new location in El Monte, Calif., and implemented operational and marketing changes designed to reinforce its position in the hospitality seating market.
To increase efficiency and better serve its customers, Charter Furniture has moved into a facility owned by parent-company Brown Jordan International in El Monte and merged its Charter and Lodging by Charter divisions into one brand. The company will continue to be supported by two facilities: Functional services such as order entry, accounting and customer service will be managed from the existing manufacturing plant in Liberty, N.C., while design and distribution will be managed from both the North Carolina facility and the new El Monte location.
In addition to taking advantage of existing parent-owned property, the two FOB points will enable Charter to provide reduced costs and improved lead times.
On the marketing side, Charter is expanding its core product line to include new ergonomic task chairs and banquet stacking chairs - part of the company's ongoing efforts to provide a broad base of solutions to their customers.
"Charter Furniture has built a reputation on reliability and quality," said Rick Dawson, Charter's senior vice president. "These changes are a studied attempt to solidify that reputation and respond to the current marketplace. Our goal is to provide quality seating for a broad audience in all hospitality arenas: hotels, bars and restaurants, lobbies, guest rooms - every public and private space. Our new structure and attention to product design will help us achieve those goals."
Charter Furniture is owned and operated by Brown Jordan International, parent company of several of the hospitality furniture industry's most specified brands. With a 20-year history as a leading manufacturer, designer and importer of upholstered seating for guestrooms and public spaces, Charter offers a full catalog of guest room seating, task and stack chairs, wood frame seating and banquette seating.
In addition, an experienced team of craftsmen allows Charter to offer custom upholstery, wood and metal solutions for any hospitality project.
Charter Furniture can be found in premier hotel chains throughout the world, including the Radisson, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Intercontinental, Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott and several of the leading hotels in Las Vegas.
