Trim supplier Bomar Trim Inc., a licensee of Glen Raven's Sunbrella outdoor brand, is shifting its domestic production to Juarez, Mexico, as part of a strategy to position the company for growth and help it expand into new markets.
Bomar previously had its handwork production done in two facilities there, while its domestic machine work production was done at its 68,000-sq.-ft. facility in Lake Worth, Fla.
Now the company is consolidating all the Mexico production, as well as the Florida machine production, into a single new 81,000-sq.-ft. facility. All the equipment from the Lake Worth plant has been moved to the Mexico plant, according to President and CEO Kyle Boyle.
The headquarters, including administrative functions, design studio and four sample-making machines, have been relocated in Lake Worth.
Boyle said the company is committed to maintaining its domestic design team. "Our customers are often faced with tight deadlines on custom product, and we are proud of our quick turnaround times on new designs and custom samples," Boyle said.
Bomar, which also has licensing partnerships with Wesley Mancini Ltd., Ellen Holt and Swarovsoki crystals, also has purchased additional knitting machines and will increase its capacity to two shifts running in Mexico, Boyle said.
