Thomasville Furniture and Armstrong Relocation partner to help tornado victims

Feed The Children distributing $1.5 million in Thomasville furniture

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Thomasville Furniture has teamed up with logistics partner Armstrong Relocation & Companies to help Feed The Children bring furniture to those recently impacted by the tornado damage in Oklahoma.
After devastating tornados hit Oklahoma twice in May, officials at Thomasville Furniture and Armstrong Relocation were looking for a way to provide assistance to families whose homes were destroyed. Feed The Children, headquartered in Oklahoma City, Okla., was chosen to distribute the donated furniture because of their work on the ground in the impacted areas.
Today, more than 20 trucks are loaded with Thomasville furniture on their way to Oklahoma for Feed The Children to match up with more than 4,000 families. New bedroom furniture and entertainment centers will soon help storm victims re-build their homes. Along with Armstrong Relocation, many Oklahoma civic leaders have also partnered to provide warehousing and trucking of the furniture.
"We are glad to assist in whatever way we can for those who have lost so much," said Lisa Hanly, vice president of corporate communications for Furniture Brands International. "Helping families re-furnish their homes is something Thomasville Furniture is extremely proud to be a part of."
"When Armstrong first talked about this with Thomasville, we asked if they might be interested in donating a couple of truckloads," said Tom Connell, VP of development and community relations, Armstrong Relocation. "When they came back and told me they were going to send more than 20 loads, I was amazed and couldn't even wrap my mind around how many families that would help. Thomasville and Furniture Brands have stepped up to take care of Oklahoma families and I am proud to partner with them."
"This generous donation will assist in Feed The Children's work to provide long term assistance for those affected by the storms," said Erin Engelke, VP of communications and public relations for Feed The Children. "We are delighted to be able to provide these items that will genuinely help these families in their recovery efforts."
