Watkins manufactures and auctions one millionth spa

Funds go to National Fallen Firefighters

Watkins Manufacturing, a Masco company, has announced the making of its one millionth hot tub.

To mark the occasion, Watkins recognized its employees with celebrations at its manufacturing plants in California and Mexico. Watkins will also be donating the proceeds from an online auction of the spa. On behalf of the Watkins employees, the company will match 100% of the dealer's winning auction bid for the "One Millionth Hot Tub," effectively doubling the donation. The dealer auction winner and final donation amount will be announced in late October.

The company is also making a donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which is honoring four Californian first responders - among the 72 honored in 2011 - at its national commemoration later this month.

"The effort to commemorate this manufacturing milestone in the spa industry comes with a sincere wish to thank the people who have made Watkins a long-term success story," said Steve Hammock, president of Watkins Manufacturing. "It is the passion of our employees, along with the dedication of our loyal retailers, that ultimately creates our ongoing value--and for this we sincerely thank them all."
