Lillian's back with new fab fabrics

The Robert Allen Group has signed a license for decorative fabric with Lillian August Designs, the CT-based home furnishings retailer and design concept company.
"I did a fabric collection with them about nine years ago," remarked designer Lillian August, whose licensed furniture is at Drexel Heritage. "It seemed time to go back and revisit fabrics."
The collection of about 70 skus will launch in the first half of next year and will be used on Drexel Heritage furniture. It's also an important collection in the network of Robert Allen interior designer showrooms around the country, according to Andy Pacuk, senior vp, the Robert Allen Group. "Since the time we did the first fabric collection we talked over the years about doing another," he explained. "The time seemed right. And it seemed logical to do the fabric since the furniture is in the showrooms."
Distribution of the decorative fabrics will be limited to the company's interior designer networks, Pacuk explained. But they will be on the furniture in the Robert Allen showrooms, through Drexel Heritage's retailers and in high-end manufactured products.
"It's like a challenge when a manufacturer comes to me. It says they're already committed," August commented.
The collection is "all about fashion and glamour. It will be very color-oriented — very distinct," August related. Important colors are "complicated greens, soft jades, to fresh greens moving to French blue green and then to bright reds."
The designs, as Pacuk described them are, "updated classics, reinvented American classics."
Added August: "I like hard-finished jacquards, tight jacquards, patterned archival linens, and softer-hand fabrics with regimented romantic jacquards."
Important among the fabric types, she said, are "my love — linen velvets, and we have to have chenilles."
