Three groups of Sunbrella fabrics won honors in the Awards for Design Excellence competition, the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade.
“Sunbrella has long been known for its performance attributes, including fade and stain resistance and ease of cleaning,” said Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, makers of Sunbrella. “Recognition in a national design contest such as the ADEX awards is exciting affirmation of the increasing design sophistication offered by Sunbrella fabrics.”
The Sunbrella Mackenzie Collection includes a range of patterns combining traditional patterns with a contemporary color flair. The collection features a refreshing glacier blue combined with soft wheat for an easy to live with aesthetic. Patterns include Mackenzie Beach, a reversible leaf and scroll design, and MacDowell Beach, a small scale damask inspired by iron finials.
Also in the Mackenzie Collection are Sasian Sesame and Sasian Parchment, which are Asian-inspired fabrics designed by Richard Frinier, an award-winning home furnishing designer. Sasian is an ideal weight for window or top of the bed applications. To add a bit of surface appeal, the group also features Simone Honey, a luxurious texture combining boucle and chenille yarns. The Mackenzie Collection is available to the trade through Silver State Textiles.
Sunbrella’s gold award winning Hallesberg Sheer Collection features true leno sheers which are available in 118-inch widths. The sheer fabric features a pinstripe design for added visual interest and is available in White, Ivory and Linen. The fabrics are ideal for use as window treatments or as accents for architectural structures such as, canopy beds or gazebos. The collection is available to the trade through Pindler & Pindler.
The silver award-winning Sunbrella Clipped Sheer Collection includes three unique fabrics: Leluc features an alternating box design; Bonaire is a subtle floral motif; and Martinair is a rectangular design with alternating weaves for a clean look. Each pattern features delicate eyelash effects created by a special manufacturing process. The fabrics are offered in a nature-inspired color palette of soft neutrals which is enhanced when the fabrics are used for window treatments. The Sunbrella Clipped Sheer Collection is available to the trade exclusively through Pindler & Pindler.
“Sunbrella sheer fabrics, including our Hallesberg and Clipped Sheer collections, have a wonderful hand and luxurious appearance, yet are stain resistant and won’t fade even after years of direct sun exposure,” Wicker said. “This combination of beauty and performance make them the ideal window treatment fabric.”
