Summer classics unveils import program for retailers

Summer Classics has created Summer Classics Direct Import, a new direct import program for 2009 available for specialty retailers.

The program allows specialty retailers to offer Summer Classics products not listed in the company’s 2009 catalog. The program includes more than eight collections of deep seating and dining made from N-Dura Wicker, wrought aluminum and cast aluminum.

“In the last few years, many specialty retailers started purchasing their products direct from off-shore manufacturers,” said Harold Hudson, vice president of sales and marketing for Summer Classics. “While this offers the opportunity to sell at a higher margin, it also presents a risk to the retailer if they are not familiar with this type of sourcing.”

Product quality was an issue for many retailers who went that route, Hudson added. Summer Classics Direct Import provides more peace of mind because the products are manufactured in a Summer Classics factory and adhere to the same quality guidelines as catalog products. If there is a problem with the shipment, Summer Classics will stand behind the product as if it was purchased from the company’s regular line.
