"It is through the service of our employees, and the loyalty of our customers, that we are able to mark this milestone," Hamilton said.
Fred Ilse is the president of Outdoor Lifestyle, managing operations in its U.S. production facility. Outdoor Lifestyle's parent company is located in South Africa and is managed by Fred's brother, Hans. The 70,000-sq.-ft. Stanley, N.C., facility provides service to the U.S., Canadian and Caribbean markets.
According to a press release, the company was originally conceived as a central hub where product from the parent company could be shipped throughout the U.S. from Charlotte, N.C.
"Quickly Outdoor Lifestyle management realized that if the company combined the classic and casual styles familiar to native North American tastes with the sturdy A356 premium metal already used in product castings, it would create an even more desirable product line," the release states.
Operations expanded with a move to Gastonia, N.C., and eventually to its present Stanley, N.C., facility, where all U.S. manufacturing, management and marketing operations are now based.
Outdoor Lifestyle offers a full line of cast aluminum furniture suitable for residential or commercial use. The full catalog is available at www.olfurniture.com. The company is also a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.
