Canadian Home Furnishings Market marks 40th year
Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, November 23, 2011
Now in its 40th year, the Canadian Home Furnishings Market will once again showcase high-quality and innovative style from more than 300 furniture manufacturers and distributors during its Jan. 14-17, 2012 run.
The only show of its kind in Canada, TCHFM has become a must-attend event for retailers, designers, decorators, suppliers and other furniture industry professionals. Over the past four decades TCHFM has become a reference in home furnishings, turning the spotlight on upcoming trends that are specifically geared toward the interests of Canadian consumers.
"Despite all the changes within our industry and our society, the Market has maintained its relevancy due to what it represents," said Jean François Michaud, Market CEO. "For 40 years, not only has TCHFM showcased upcoming trends that will attract Canadian consumers, but it has also allowed retailers and suppliers to communicate and share, exchanging information and inspiration at a level that is much deeper than is achieved by email or via a smartphone."
This year, TCHFM will display an innovative new design feature. Along with the popular Trends Display (now in its 12th year), attendees will also be able to view 12 pop-up vignettes that are scattered throughout the Market. Designed by lifestyle expert Janette Ewen, these vignettes have been created to stimulate the imaginations of retailers and provide them with inspiring merchandising and product ideas.
"Visiting TCHFM enables retailers to source absolutely everything for the home," Michaud said. "These new vignettes highlight the variety of Market products, while showing some of the top trends for the upcoming year in accessories, décor and accent pieces."
Along with giving retailers a perspective on upcoming trends and an introduction to the year's most exciting furniture lines, TCHFM is also devoted to providing companies with invaluable tools that will aid them in bringing their business to the next level of success. This year, two retail merchandising experts will be providing constructive advice that can help retailers capture their "wow" factor and gain a loyal following of customers.
In today's competitive market, sitting back and waiting for customers to walk through the door is a recipe for disaster. Focusing upon the strategic points of difference that separate one store from another, Harold C. Lloyd help businesses stay top-of-mind through effective strategies such as outdoor signage and attentive customer service. From working as the president and CEO of a 14-unit retail organization to becoming an area franchise developer for a family restaurant, Lloyd has more than 25 years of retail experience and is regarded as one of the retail industry's most popular and innovative speakers thanks to talks that combine practical ideas with imagination, innovation and humor.
Featuring trendy tips, inspiring design ideas and clever suggestions, lifestyle expert Janette Ewen, hosts a conference workshop that can help stores easily create an attention-getting, sales-boosting atmosphere. Best known for her creative, budget-friendly and original approach to decorating, Ewen has reported on the hottest design trends for style publications - including Chatelaine, Canadian House & Home and The Globe and Mail - for more than 10 years. She was co-host of the W Network's "Inside the Box with Ty Pennington." she also appeared as a design expert on "The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price" and as a judge on season two of "From The Ground Up With Debbie Travis."
