Maku Furnishings announced its online debut of the Maku EcoShop, an online assemblage of design inspired
eco-friendly and sustainable products.
"Maku's newest venture is the culmination of necessity and a desire to live a more sustainable life and continue to reduce the footprint we all leave on the planet," said Ashley West, Maku's president. "To follow the next steps in the ongoing challenge to make the world a better place, we are excited to launch Maku EcoShop."
The Maku brand was founded in 2006 by action sports industry veteran Johnny West to be a convergence of contemporary designs utilizing natural materials,
combined with a mix of traditional handcrafted artistry, in a form that resonates with modern consumers who identify themselves with outdoor culture.
Maku products made their debut at retail in 2007. As the Southern California brand's presence expanded, West and his partners realized there was a demand for additional lifestyle products in the home decor category, but that consumers were having a difficult time finding them all in one, easily accessible and navigable online location.
The Maku EcoShop consists of authentic and unique home lifestyle products that are designed to expand the organic indoor and outdoor living space into a sanctuary of relaxation and comfort.
Maku EcoShop (http://EcoShop.Makufurniture.com) currently features more than 300 products with nearly 1,000 styles of best-in-class eco-decor from the top designers and brands in the business. With categories that include furniture, jewelry, pet products and children's clothing, among others, the Maku Eco Shop is an easy to navigate portal for people looking to bring more environmentally friendly products into their home. Each of the products offered in EcoShop are organic and sustainable by nature, experiential in design and meet the strict ethos the business stands upon.
Maku's leaders believe that going green is a lifestyle choice, but one that cannot simply happen overnight. The company is not encouraging over consumption, but rather, when consumers find themselves needing to replace a worn out product or purchase something out of necessity, to consider items that leave less of a footprint on the environment.
"We believe conscious consideration at retail is one of the key ways we all can help salvage the future health of Mother Earth and offer a unique perspective of design appreciation in contemporary terms to compliment modern lifestyles, offices and homes," according to a company news release.
