Dick Sherwood, long-time sales rep, dies

Richard D. Sherwood of Worton, Md., died Feb. 28 at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Sherwood, 63, worked as a self-employed manufacture representative in the casual furnishings industry. Casual Cushion, Hanamint and Patio Renaissance were among the clients he represented. He will be remembered fondly by his customers, friends and co-workers for his integrity, honesty and values.
Sherwood was born in Everett, Mass., on July 11, 1949 to the late Roland Donald Sherwood and Frances Sherwood of Greensboro, N.C. He earned a bachelor's degree in history. In 1975 he married Gale Guyton; they resided in Virginia until moving to Worton, Md. in 1987. Sherwood was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chestertown and the Chestertown Elks Lodge 2474.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, vacationing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son: Daniel Sherwood and his wife Beth of Eagle River, Ala., two daughters: Rebecca Spray and her husband Donald of Kennedyville, Md., and Abigail Sherwood of Worton, Md., a sister: Linda Long of Summerfield, N.C., and his grandchildren: Sarah Wheeler, Lucas Sherwood and Alexandra Spray.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chestertown, Md. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105.
