ShadeScapes Americas launches Woodline umbrella shade systems in North American, Latin American and Caribbean markets

ShadeScapes Americas has announced it has become the exclusive distributor of the Woodline collection in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. The product line consists of eight artistic, architectural and commercial-grade umbrellas, including cantilever, center-pole and dual-pole designs.

"By combining distinct designs with many sizes, three shapes and several finishes, the Woodline collection totals more than 100 options for elegant commercial and residential use," said Jo Edmondson, co-owner of ShadeScapes Americas.

The alliance became active in October 2010 when Edmondson met with Woodline executives in South Africa, where the company is headquartered and from which its shade systems are exported to 46 countries. The official announcement this week completes ShadeScapes Americas' comprehensive shade offering, which also includes the Umbrosa collection, consisting of umbrella systems, shade sails and contemporary shade forms, as well as the May collection, featuring seven European sunshades with an emphasis on giant center-pole umbrellas.

The inclusion of Woodline as a counterpart to the Umbrosa and May collections is a result of Edmondson's research to source shade designs from around the globe and adapt them for applications specific to the Americas. "By introducing the most innovative brands with excellent worldwide reputations to our market, ShadeScapes has pioneered shading luxury spaces," said Edmondson. "Our large portfolio of creative shade options includes side and center posts, shade sails, cluster umbrellas, personal shade designs, wall-mounted umbrellas and giant sunshades."

Since 1989, Woodline umbrellas have been crafted to withstand the elements and provide enduring coverage, a significant factor that led to Edmondson's company electing to represent the brand. Constructing wood umbrellas and finely turned hubs from FSC-certified Eucalyptus hardwood has been a Woodline specialty for 22 years. Durable and saltwater-resistant anodized aluminum frames, combined with stainless steel components and hardware, add to the breadth of the line and ensure durability.

A variety of mounting options allows for versatile installation. With a range of flexibility, the Picollo cantilever rotates 360 degrees and tilts from side to side for continuous shade coverage as the angle of the sun changes throughout the day. A latch and lever system allows for opening and closing. Distinctive tilt mechanisms are also found on the Safari and Swift center-pole styles, while the Pendulum and Papillion offer expansive areas of shade. High-quality in-house printing services are also available for corporate branding.

The canopies used by Woodline are made from 100% solution-dyed Sunbrella acrylic canvas known for its resistance to fading, mold and mildew. The fabric repels water, oil and dirt and is available in more than 30 colors and various finishes to provide distinguishing style selections for a diverse range of patios, pool decks and gardens.

With this expansion, ShadeScapes Americas is now accepting requests from specialized retailers and showroom owners seeking regional market exclusivity. For more information, visit
