Terra expands Chelsea design to outdoor lighting
City of Industry, Calif.-based Terra Furniture continues to expand its Chelsea line in response to positive customer reaction. The collection now includes both a floor and table lamp carrying out the bamboo detail so popular since the line's introduction last summer.
"Used with other pieces of the Chelsea line or employed as an accent piece," said Terra President Ken Burrows, "the design is very versatile."
The bamboo styling, designed by Joe Ruggiero, is reminiscent of Chippendale or English country gardens, but designers are ordering it to be used indoors as well.
The new lighting is made of aluminum and is available in 18 finishes, including a new bamboo finish developed to coordinate with the other Chelsea pieces. Shades on Chelsea are covered in Sunbrella and come in many colors and patterns. As in the entire Terra Outdoor Lighting division, the new Chelsea lights incorporate the company's unique 12 volt, no shock or short system for safety.
Terra and Joe Ruggiero, host of HDTV's Homes Across America teamed up a little more than a year ago to confer on designs of outdoor furniture. Chelsea is the first line to get to market. Ruggiero is a well-known designer in the home furnishings and home fabrics industry, but may be most noted for bringing the subject of home design to network and cable television.

GardenWood Furniture extends outdoor dining table line
Whittier Wood Products has recently added an extension table to its line of GardenWood Furniture. The 999W Extension Table features a butterfly leaf that lets it seat either six when closed and eight when open. The butterfly leaf design stows the leaf underneath the table. It stands 29 1/2 high with a table top that measures 40 deep by 67 to 86 long. It is available either ready-to-finish or with a clear, penetrating oil finish applied. The table can be complemented with any set of GardenWood dining chairs to create a special gathering place by the pool, on the sun deck or out in the garden.
Like all GardenWood Furniture, the Extension Table is crafted from rich Eucalyptus. This hardwood is sustainable, plantation grown and actively replanted in temperate regions around the world.
