Capel Rugs names merchandising director

Tami Watras will direct product development, procurement

Capel Rugs promoted Tami Watras as director of merchandising, with responsibility for Capel’s strategy and execution of merchandise selection, product development and procurement.

In this newly created position, Watras reports directly to John Magee, Capel Rugs president and CEO. Under the new structure, Norm Sweeters, managing director of imports, and Lou Webster, director of design and product development, will report to Watras.

Watras joined Capel in 2006 as a merchandise manager and most recently served as general manager of Capel’s retail division. Before joining Capel, she held positions in merchandising, product development and sourcing for Ethan Allen, Amy Coe and Lillian August Designs.
