ATLANTA - The Big Green Egg Company unveiled its largest capacity high-performance ceramic grill, the Big Green Egg XXL, at the HPB Expo held March 13-16 in Orlando, Fla.

The Egg is currently offered in five sizes, and the introduction of the prototype "EGGzilla" several years ago made the company aware of demand for an even larger model, according to a press release. In response to consumer interest, research and development began to address the challenge of creating not just a larger Egg, but one that would "perform as flawlessly as the company's other models."

The Big Green Egg XXL is large enough to roast a whole hog, 20 racks of ribs or 40 burgers. The stainless steel cooking grid measures 29.25 inches/74.3 centimeters in diameter for 672 square inches/4,336 square centimeters of cooking area.

Like all Eggs in the Big Green Egg family, the XXL Egg can cook low and slow for hours and flash sear at ultra-high temperatures. The XXL accommodates numerous "EGGcessories" designed exclusively for the Egg, including an XXL plate setter. Its patented components and state-of-the-art ceramic technologies will not deteriorate over time, the company says. The XXL is constructed from the same ultra-high-quality ceramics as the other five Egg sizes and comes with the same limited lifetime warranty.

The XXL also features a new patent-pending hinge design that allows easy one-handed operation of opening or closing the distinctive green dome.

The XXL will be made available as a Limited Edition in 2013 at selected dealers around the world. Big Green Egg XXL will be available in full distribution in 2014.
