The upcoming 2011 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, which will be held Nov. 2-4 in the Bayside Halls at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, will feature a host of educational events for pool, spa and patio professionals.
IPSP Expo to highlight APSP Builders Institute
The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) will offer its flagship educational programs prior to the 2011 Int'l Pool | Spa | Patio Expo. Making up part of the APSP Career Institute, these programs are the centerpiece of the Expo's comprehensive lineup of educational offerings.
Presented by the APSP Builders Council, the APSP Builders Institute is an intense two-day program of seminars designed to be a transformational learning experience that will challenge the way attendees think and help them perform at the top of their game.
"The first day is all about the WOW factor and creating unforgettable, unrivaled pool and spa projects by implementing acrylic windows, after dark visual effects, unique waterproofing techniques and more," said Bill Weber, president and CEO of APSP, the show's official sponsor. For attendees wanting even more of a comprehensive professional development experience, the three-day APSP Builders Institute + CBP Prep Course offers the APSP Builders Institute plus the CBP Certified Builder Professional Certification Prep Course and Exam, leading to the highest level of pool builder professional certification in the industry.
While anyone can participate in the Builders Institute, attendees must have five or more years of industry experience and 24 hours of continuing education credits to qualify to take the CBP exam and prep course. The 21 hours of continuing education hours earned by attending the Exam Prep Course and Builders Institute may be applied toward meeting the 24-hour continuing education requirement for the exam.
The APSP Career Institute packages are ticketed events and seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged to ensure access to the program.
The APSP Builders Institute + CBP Prep Course includes admission to the two-day Institute, the CBP Prep Course and the CBP Exam [if qualified]. Attendees will also receive the APSP Builders Manual, 3rd Edition, a Super Pass, admission to the Expo, one of the three Power Panels, the Welcome Party at LAX, the APSP Live Workshops and the Saber BBQ & Beer Bash. Genesis 3 to offer design schools at IPSP Expo
Builders, designers and landscape architects attending the 2011 Int'l Pool | Spa | Patio Expo will have the opportunity to gain design and construction knowledge of pools, spas, water features and ponds through the Genesis 3 Design Schools.
Presented by the Genesis 3 Design Group, one of the industry's most-respected experts in watershape design and construction, the pre-show, high-level educational programs are designed to teach higher standards in watershape design and construction.
"If you want to register for one of the Genesis 3 Design Schools, I recommend that you do so immediately," said Brian Van Bower, President and Co-Founder of Genesis 3. "One of the three Design Schools, ‘20th Century Architecture,' is already sold out, and the other three are filling up fast."
With one school already sold out, registrants can choose one from a selection of three 20-hour courses held over 2 1/2 days. Classes will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, and from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1. The Monday and Tuesday classes include lunch.
Focusing on pools, spas, water features and ponds, the Genesis 3 Design Schools include the following 20-hour courses:
+ "Design Communication - Measured Perspective" introduces attendees to rendered drawings, developing participants' competency with two-point perspective while focusing on scale, proportion, structured plan layouts, grid systems, tone, shadow and more. This class is taught by Larry Drasin, Sr. Project Manager of Drasin Design. In addition, Drasin is the Project Manager for the new Shade Hotel Redondo Beach due to open 2012, as well as an instructor at the UCLA Environmental & Interior Design Dept.
+ "Advanced Fluid Engineering" extrapolates the key fluid static and dynamic principles that apply to watershapes. Attendees will learn how to properly size plumbing and equipment, calculate TDH, operating costs, size chemical systems and other items. Taught by David J. Peterson, P.E., SWD, Watershape Consulting, Inc., Peterson is a registered civil engineer in multiple states, a member of the Society of Watershape Designers (SWD), and a Genesis 3 Platinum Member.
+ "3-Dimensional Computer Drawing - A Study in Color, Light and Layout with Markers, Part II" places an emphasis on understanding light to create three-dimensional images, understanding visual depth - the basis of proper visual presentations, and using design markers to create depth on three-dimensional drawings created and formulated in Part I. Presented by David Tisherman, SWD, Genesis 3 Design Group Co-founder, and Principal and Founder of David Tisherman's Visuals, Inc.
