HIGH POINT — Dave Palmer, whose career in home furnishings included work in retail and as an executive at market showroom buildings, will receive a Special Leadership Award next month from the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.'s Past Presidents Club.
He will be honored during the 19th annual Furniture Industry Awards Gala, set for Monday, April 22, in the International Home Furnishings Center during the High Point Market.
Palmer, who was most recently general manager of the World Market Center in Las Vegas until 2008, is receiving the award in recognition of his promotion and elevation of sales representatives throughout his career, IHFRA said.
He started in the home furnishings industry in the late 1960s with retailer Bruener's in Sacramento Calif., eventually leading to a management position with the company's downtown Oakland store. He later held management positions with retailers J. Homestock and Homemakers/John M. Smyth, and later in his career was executive vice president of Salt Lake City-based R.C. Willey.
In showroom management, he worked for Chicago's Merchandise Mart and was president of the San Francisco Mart, executive vice president of the Pacific Design Center, and vice president of home furnishings with the Dallas Market Center, in addition to the Las Vegas post.
IHFRA and the National Home Furnishings Assn. are sponsoring the April 22 gala. For information, contact the IHFRA office at (336) 889-3920 or e-mail email@example.com. Reservations for the event can also be made online at www.ihfra.org.
