Plush toy and gift manufacturer Aurora World has been named licensee for Sad Sam & Honey, a property featuring two sweet basset hounds with sad eyes.
Aurora World's Sad Sam & Honey collection will debut at the Atlanta gift market this month.
The property launched in 1980 and was featured on products in the specialty and gift markets. Aurora World is planning to launch a number of styles featuring the pooches at the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, which runs Jan. 9-16, and Toy Fair, set for Feb. 10-13.
"We are so excited to welcome Sad Sam & Honey to the Aurora family," said Michael Kessler, Aurora's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We're planning a variety of huggable designs, stylish fabrics, classic body poses and seasonal styles. We look forward to bringing Sad Sam & Honey to a new generation of children and parents everywhere."
The initial line will include the 14" Hug Me plush that makes a whimpering sound when hugged, the 10" Snuggle with floppy arms and legs, the 8" Classic bean-filled plush in sitting positions, and the 6" Take Me Home, a pocket-size version. The line also includes the Honey-themed Fancy Pals carrier, based on Aurora's popular design. The bag features soft pink accents, a shimmering butterfly and embroidery.
Retail prices ranges between $6.50 and $23 and the line will be available for retail in February.
