HOM Furniture expanding store in Sioux City, Iowa

HOM Furniture is adding 15,000 square feet to its downtown store here by taking over a neighboring building, the Sioux City Journal reports.

Remodeling is underway and the expanded showroom will feature a Seasonal Concepts indoor and outdoor patio department, plus larger HOM World Rugs and clearance departments, the newspaper said.

HOM, a Furniture/Today Top 100 company based in Coon Rapids, Minn., had moved into the 60,000-sq.-ft. downtown store - a former Younkers Department Store - in 2008, tripling the space of its previous Sioux City showroom on Nebraska Street.

Store Manager Jeff Lyle said the company has kept the store open during the remodeling work. He told the Journal, "The Sioux City market has been very good to us and customers have encouraged us to continue to expand our showroom."
