Beckham & Issa blend design influences
Focus is on timeliness, not trendiness

Nancy Beckman and Jane Issa
Beckham, whose training came in vocal performance, began her design life when working with a general contractor in Texas, helping design the interiors of restaurants and hotels, while Issa's past experience was designing hotels in Jamaica. The two met when they worked together to bring back to life a boutique property in Negril, Jamaica.
These days, what Beckham & Issa is quickly becoming known for is a Lloyd Loom Collection. The pieces come in an endless array of colors and a mission to provide the highest quality possible, the company is uniquely positioned among its competitors.
"Designing with integrity is the company's mantra," Beckham said. "Our focus is on timeliness, not trendiness, making for sustainable design and a casual elegance."
Beckham said she likes the scale and generous seating without being bulky, the comfort and the durability and most of all, the timeless quality.
Issa's main concerns are to consider a sense of usefulness to go along with a piece's appearance.
The Mono chairs from Beckham & Issa’s Lloyd Loom Collection combine silhouettes from the past with elegantly clean, modern lines.
In terms of design influences, Issa will tell you that she admires the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, because he would come up with a grand design into which all parts fit; while Beckham favors the work of Christian Liaigre, because his lines are clean but not sterile.
What makes a good casual furniture design?
"Design really follows function," said Issa. "It also has to have integrity and once those elements are there, then you have a good piece of furniture."
Beckham said the best designs take a page from how women's fashion has evolved, so that one outfit can have multiple purposes.
"That really applies to casual furniture shopping, to buy pieces that are going to last more than a year, things they can recover or change as their family changes, something that's slightly traditional that they won't get tired of," Beckham said. "All of that makes a great design."
