With a mission of providing an ever growing selection of design-oriented, high erformance fabrics, Joe Ruggiero will unveil numerous additions to his Sunbrella fabrics collection during Showtime. Ruggiero’s latest creations are based on years of overseas travel combined with close contacts with furniture retailers and professional interior designers.
“Our continuing series of retail events for consumers, combined with design conferences with professional interior designers, assure that our collection is fresh and on-trend,” said Ruggiero, a nationally recognized home decor expert. “The marketplace is consistently ‘wowed’ by what we are able to create today with performance Sunbrella fabrics.”
Ruggiero was inspired by a musical theme for his fabrics debuting in High Point on June 5-10. The four new fabric groups are Modern Jazz, Italian Classics, Western Opus and Decor Crescendo.
“Home decor is similar to conducting an orchestra,” he said. “Just like a symphony, home decor requires bringing many different elements together for a beautiful result.”
Modern Jazz
The Modern Jazz group continues an edginess characteristic of Ruggiero’s offerings during spring High Point Market. Leading this group is the pattern Frank, inspired by Jean-Michel Frank, the famous French interior designer. A series of rectangular blocks create a geometric pattern offered in five color ways – Robin, Wren, Grain, Espresso and Classic.
Continuing an emphasis on geometrics, Joy is a series of fanciful overlapping circles reminiscent of hula hoops. Color offerings are Charcoal, Ginger, Sequoia and Espresso.
Other Modern Jazz offerings include Blox, which was formulated using uneven squares displayed against a vellum ground, and Bene, a plaid-like pattern with hand loomed qualities. Blox is offered in Slate, Oriole, Canyon and Dijon while Bene is featured in Wren, Amber and Chestnut.
Italian Classics
In Italian, the city of Florence is Firenze, the name Ruggiero choose for the lead offering in this group. Firenze is a small textured damask-like pattern reminiscent of old world Italian design. This classic offering is debuting in Mandarin, Grain and Moss.
Western Opus
The Western Opus group has an ethnic Southwestern flavor in terms of texture and color. Leading this group is Montecito, a pattern rich with the textures of hand woven fabrics. It is available in several colors including Nutmeg, Mushroom and Parchment.
Natick is a classic ticking stripe similar to men’s shirting. The ground for this offering is Ruggiero’s popular Trax pattern, which assures a substantial hand. Colors are Sunset, Grain and Papyrus.
Completing the Western Opus is Royal Oaks, a pattern of oak leaves tossed on neutral grounds. Color ways include Azul, Nutmeg and Wren.
Decor Crescendo
Just as conductors save their best for last, the same is true for Ruggiero, evidenced by Decor Crescendo. The lead pattern is Cote (French for coast), which is a highly textural fabric Ruggiero created as an ideal “go with” pattern. A deep nubby texture in nine colors, ranging from Parchment to Chile, assures that this fabric can complement virtually any décor with a rich look and feel.
Dots Nice, a Ruggiero creation of seasons past, is re-colored for Showtime in Black, Espresso, Sequoia, Ginger, Bark, Shale and Char. Completing the group are two stripes – Elsa, which has a chenille-like texture in Granite, Ginger and Mocha, and Sunset Stripe, an existing pattern with a damask look.
“With the Decor Crescendo we have created fabrics that furniture retailers and interior designers can use every day in meeting the decorating needs of their customers,” Ruggiero said. “These are fabrics that will sell based on design alone. The fade resistance, durability and ease of cleaning of Sunbrella fabrics are added value features that close the deal.”
