Other seating, including lounge chairs, hammocks, benches, rockers, gliders and other miscellaneous chairs, pulled in $195 million in retail sales in 2006 and is expected to increase just slightly this year, by 1.5%. This product category represents 4% of the entire outdoor furniture market, including grills, and 8% of the outdoor furniture market.

Two-fifths of other seating retail sales are rung through discount department store cash registers. And, discounters are projected to have the fastest sales growth this year at 1.8%.

Home improvement centers, with a 27% market share, are expected to increase other seating sales 1.5% to $52 million in 2007.

Specialty stores accounted for 18% of the market and generated $36 million in sales last year.
