Shoji Lantern by Richard Frinier/Currey & Company joins Metropolitan Home Design 100 list

The complete Metropolitan Home Design 100 List appears in its May issue

-- Casual Living, 4/23/2007 6:36:00 AM

Los Angeles-based outdoor furniture designer Richard Frinier captured media attention with his Japanese-inspired Shoji Lantern for Currey & Company, recently included in Metropolitan Home magazine’s Design 100 listing for 2007.

Every year, Metropolitan Home magazine editors dedicate an entire issue to what they believe to be some of the greatest looking and innovative projects with heart. The complete Metropolitan Home Design 100 List appears in its May issue.

The Shoji Table Lantern from the Richard Frinier Collection for Currey & Company features Sunbrella performance fabric and a discrete dimmer to create the perfect ambient lighting for interiors and exteriors. It is generally believed that the sliding paper doors known as Shoji screens were historically epochal in the further development of Japanese lighting. Originally used to light the fronts of temples and shrines, the Shoji lanterns became incorporated into gardens with the advent of the tea ceremony followed by use in dwellings and public spaces.
