CFR adds board members
The Casual Furniture Retailers Association held its annual Board of Directors elections and added three new board members.
They are: Carl Vice, Casual Living & Patio Center, Lexington, Ky.; Marcia Blake, Roger's Gardens, Corona del Mar, Calif., and Tim Newton, Leaders Casual Furniture in Largo, Fla. Debbie Stegman from Patio & Hearth Shoppes, in Dayton, Ohio, was re-elected to another three-year term.
The newly elected board members will begin their three-year terms this month at the International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market.
Tervis fills management positions
Timothy Desser joined Tervis Tumbler as controller and will oversee all accounting functions for the Osprey, Fla.-based insulated drinkware manufacturer. Desser, who also will manage Tervis' human resources department, brings more than 25 years of business experience and formerly was director of financial services/controller of Center for Sight.
Nathan Yoder also joined Tervis to manage its golf division, which includes 68 of the nation's top 100 golf courses and several golf course management companies. Yoder previously worked for PSP Sports Marketing and was an executive with ParView, a provider of GPS-assisted in-cart video display systems.
Barbuto joins Glen Raven
Linda Barbuto joined Glen Raven as senior designer. Barbuto comes to Glen Raven after 16 years with Burlington House Fabrics, now International Textiles, where she held roles as a designer, design department manager and styling/design technical advisor.
Outdoor Lifestyle names national sales manager
John Dunn was named national sales manager of Outdoor Lifestyle. Dunn brings more than 30 years of sales and sales management experience in pharmaceutical and medical supplies in the Central/Eastern United States and Canada, as well as various service operations throughout North Carolina.
New River fills sales positions
A new company in the casual industry, New River Casual Furniture recently announced its team of U.S. sales representatives.
"These skilled sales professionals will be instrumental in generating growth and revenue for New River Casual Furniture as we launch our product line this year," said Michael Mettendorf, vice president of sales and marketing. "We feel fortunate to have forged these important partnerships to help establish our vital link with the retail market."

Gloster awards sales reps
Gloster Furniture recognized Craig Welsh as its 2005 Sales Representative of the Year and Charlie Hesson as its 2005 Rookie Sales Representative of the Year during its annual sales meeting, July 28–29 in South Boston, Va.
The two were honored for outstanding dedication to their customers and Gloster. Welsh's territories are New Jersey and New York. Hesson's territories are Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Woodard names sales rep of the year
Woodard named Bill Markowitz Jr. as retail sales representative of the year at the company's national sales meeting held in Chicago. The award is based on sales performance in all categories for the 2004–2005 selling season. Covering the Pacific Southwest territory, Markowitz started working for Woodard as an associate representative for his father before taking over the territory in 2003.
