ARTS Awards finalists announced

Winners to be named at Dallas Total Home & Gift Market

Dallas Market Center and the Accessories Resource Team have announced the 20th annual ARTS Awards finalists. Winners will be announced during an industry gala on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market in the Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart.

In the Manufacturer-Outdoor Living category, finalists include Emissary, Palecek and Starlight Lanterns. In the Manufacturer-Decorative Accessories category, finalists are Cyan Design, IMAX, The Phillips Collection and Two’s Company. In the Manufacturer-Permanent Floral category, finalists include Immortalis Botanicals, SIA Home Fashion and Winward International.

Manufacturers also are awarded in Accent Furniture, Area Rugs, Lighting Fixtures, Portable Lamps, Tabletop and Wall Decor categories.

Product designers also are recognized. Finalists include Mark Abrams, Mark Abrams Design, Greensboro, N.C.; Allan Palecek, Palecek, Richmond, Calif.; Karyl Pierce Paxton, Pierce Paxton Design Studio, New Orleans; and Lance Marconi, EMI Design, Chicago.

Awards are also given in the following categories: International Retail Store, Rising Star Retailer, Furniture Store Retailer (regionally awarded), Home Accent Store Retailer (regionally awarded), Sales Representative (regionally awarded) and Lighting Showroom (regionally awarded).

Finalists must submit a portfolio including company history, philosophy, product development, marketing, merchandising and customer relations. Judges include Mark McMenamin, senior editor, Interior Design; Janace Clark, associate professor of fashion merchandising at Texas Christian University; Rawlins Gilliland, retail consultant and expert; Helen Erdman, founder of Helen Erdman Interiors; and Pat Mayfield, founder and president of business consulting company, Pat Mayfield Consulting.
