Vietnamese manufacturer increases U.S. presence

Staff -- Casual Living, 7/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

Tran Duc, an outdoor furniture manufacturer based in Vietnam, will open a 5,000-sq.-ft. warehouse and wholesale showroom for casual furniture retailers this month in San Diego.

With three manufacturing plants and about 2,500 employees, Tran Duc manufactures furniture made of eucalyptus, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and yellow balau and kwila woods, along with wicker, rattan and aluminum, to produce outdoor furniture.

The company now supplies about 150 40-foot containers per month to retailers in the United States and anticipates growth, Tran said. The company has signed up for an 800-sq.-ft. space at Chicago's Merchandise Mart to exhibit during the Casual Market.
