Furniture designers, manufacturers, showrooms, distributors and retailers sought for home furnishings donations

After 20 years of quietly providing services to individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS, Triad Health Project is creating Designers Care, a major fundraising event scheduled for spring 2007 in downtown Greensboro, N.C.
The nonprofit service organization with facilities in High Point and Greensboro is asking furniture designers, manufacturers, showrooms, distributors and retailers for home furnishings donations. Proceeds from its upcoming giant tag sale will go toward funding vital THP programs and services.
Donors can call or e-mail to schedule a pick-up. Volunteers are at hand, as is moving and storage company Two Men and a Truck, which is donating warehousing and item pick-up services. Donors also may drop off smaller items at two THP facilities: 620 English Road in High Point, or 801 Summit Ave. in Greensboro. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“We want the entire process to be as simple as possible for our donors, and we hope they will view contributing to our fundraiser as a convenience as well as a worthy cause,” said John Melton, THP board member and event chairman. “Post-market there is a lot of cleaning up and clearing out. Why not let THP help with some of the clearing out, and get a tax deduction too? We also intend to acknowledge all donations publicly in presale publicity and on-site at the tag sale.”
Chelsea House, based in Gastonia, N.C., kicked off the giving with a generous collection of furniture and accessories valued at more than $20,000 wholesale.
“Donations of this size are truly wonderful,” Melton said, “but even giving a single item, a lamp or an area rug, will make a difference and assist us in our work.”
To schedule a pick-up of donated goods, contact Mike Baker at Triad Health Project 336-275-1654, or e-mail mbaker@triadhealthproject.com. Please, provide an item inventory including product descriptions and approximate inventory cost. THP will in turn provide the appropriate charitable-donation documentation required by the Internal Revenue Service.
A United Way agency, Triad Health Project is volunteer-supported, community-based and currently serves more than 600 individuals who live with or are affected by HIV/AIDS.
