Glen Raven Custom Fabrics was recognized as one of the newest members of the South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program, a voluntary initiative that recognizes facilities exercising environmental leadership in the state.
"Glen Raven’s Anderson facility has shown a commitment to environmental excellence by fostering continual improvements,” said Bob King, DHEC’s deputy commissioner for Environmental Quality Control. "Through a comprehensive recycling program, Glen Raven prevents more than 400 tons of materials, such as packaging and paper, from going into landfills annually, while also reclaiming 500 tons of raw material waste for other product applications.”
Glen Raven’s Anderson plant is a 1 million-sq.-ft., vertically integrated manufacturing facility making Sunbrella brand performance fabrics for awnings, marine and furniture. Its intense environmental quality program eliminated landfill wastes through recycling and repurposing of waste materials.
“Throughout our history, Glen Raven has been committed to environmental excellence,” said Jack Woodson, director of operations for the Anderson facility. “As we advance best practices in all areas of our operations each year, we also use state-of-the-art approaches to enhance our environmental performance.”
