Expect normal September

Weather September 2008

-- Casual Living, 9/1/2008 12:00:00 AM

September 2007 was the eighth warmest in 113 years and made a wholesale change from the year prior. Temperatures climbed from September 2006, which was recorded as the 31st coldest in more than 100 years. Last September brought only one brief taste of autumn around mid-month, with a few nights of light frost in the Midwest. The warm weather helped to extend the outdoor patio season well into October in many parts of the nation.

Nationally, September 2008 will be colder than last year and will trend closer to normal. This will bring a much earlier end to the pool and patio season across the East. A brief stretch of warm weather around mid-month will be one of the few favorable periods for clearance activities across the East. Further west in California, warm early fall weather will help lengthen the season until early October.
