FYI

Nearly seven of 10 consumers say high gas prices are having a significant impact on their budgets

-- Casual Living, 6/1/2008 12:00:00 AM

Briefly.....

Nearly seven of 10 consumers say high gas prices are having a significant impact on their budgets, according to the latest American Pulse Survey. Consolation prize goes to retailers with Web sites providing the ability to purchase online. For those who are shopping, 33% of online U.S. adults are choosing to shop online rather than in physical stores due to high gas prices, according to a recent iCongo survey. Other reasons include: free shipping, lower prices and the freedom to shop at any time.

With fewer people planning to spend tax rebate checks on big ticket items such as furniture (2.7 million vs. 4.0 million in February), per a National Retail Federation Tax Rebate survey conducted in May, the Internet may be retailers’ “stimulus” package.
