Kettal opens Miami showroom

Staff -- Casual Living, 4/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Barcelona, Spain-based outdoor furniture manufacturer Grupo Kettal has opened a showroom in Miami.

The shop will extend its U.S. distribution and encourage end-customer awareness of its four brands: Kettal, Hugonet, Triconfort and Evolutif. The direct relationship with consumers also will allow Grupo Kettal to obtain their feedback, which will be useful in developing future collections and finishes.

Its latest offerings include the Maia Collection designed by Patricia Urquiola. The collection, an industrial reinterpretation of traditional weaving, breaks the archetype of braided furniture through contemporary geometry. Combining a high-tech fiber dressing, a wide aluminum framework makes the collection gain in lightness and modernity. The design is completed with a comfortable 3-D cushion. Of Spanish origin but professionally trained in Italy, Urquiola is considered one of the most active designers of the new generation.

Another new 2007 feature from Grupo Kettal is the Triconfort Biarritz double deckchair designed by Jorge Pensi. The double deckchair, large enough for two, has a carefully designed swivel system. Inspired by French art of living and handcrafted in wood, aluminum and lacquered resin materials, a canopy can be added to this double outdoor bed to provide shade from the sun.

Also new this season is the modular Kettal Toobo Collection, manufactured in aluminum tubing finished with polyester paint and highly resistant, durable porotex vinyl for the seat and backrest. The collection is available in two frame colors: Manganese and White Gobi; with two upholstery finishes: Brown Lava and White Snow. The Kettal Toobo collection includes corner and central units, club armchair, barstool, deck chair with a folding hood, chair, armchair and dining table.

European designs inside the new showroom test U.S. tastes.
