Sketchbook – Mountain Retreat

Items evoke a sense of naturalism

Courtney Mueller -- Casual Living, 9/6/2006 7:46:00 AM

Seemingly untouched by the modern world, the mountains provide a perfect escape from daily life. A quiet retreat surrounded by nature may be just what the doctor ordered, and there are plenty of casual products to support a cabin, cottage or second home in the hills.

Items that evoke a sense of naturalism or reflect the landscape, from faux stone tabletops to organically styled chairs, are fitting, as are furniture pieces constructed from natural wood materials like teak, kapur and Brazilian Cherry.

Handcrafted from plantation-grown teak trees, Groovystuff’s Root Bar chair is a natural addition to any mountain lodge with its organic style. Handcrafted from plantation-grown teak trees, Groovystuff’s Root Bar chair is a natural addition to any mountain lodge with its organic style.
The wrought aluminum Summer Cottage Collection from Summer Classics is influenced by the first Adirondack chairs produced in the Adirondack Mountains during the 1800s. Featuring specialized formed tubular aluminum with a curved back and seat, the line allows for therapeutic circulation through the user’s legs and back.
