Hickory, N.C.-based Shuford Mills named a new president and began forming a new company to make and distribute coarse-count yarns.
C.P. Davis joined Shuford Mills as president, replacing Allen Barwick, who will become president of the new company, Shuford Yarns.
The newly formed Shuford Yarns initially will own two manufacturing plants in Longview and Dudley Shoals, N.C., which it agreed in principle to purchase from Shuford Mills June 30. The plants manufacture coarse-count cotton and polyester yarns for industrial and home furnishings applications.
Shuford Mills' weaving operations, including the Hudson, N.C., facility that makes the Outdura line of outdoor fabrics, will remain a part of STM Inds., the parent company. Shuford will sit on the board of directors of the new company.
