Weber's On the Grill App Available to Grilling Fans

using iPhone and iPod technology

-- Casual Living, 8/28/2009 3:27:00 PM

Weber-Stephen Products recently introduced an application for the iPhone and iPod touch that makes grilling the perfect meal a breeze. With hundreds of recipes from Weber's extensive and highly successful cookbook library, Weber's On the Grill app is the first of its kind featuring an impressive recipe database where consumers can tag favorites and even create a master grocery list that you can take to the store.

Now available for download on the Apple iTunes App Store, this application retails for $4.99 and also features a grilling timer. When your food is ready your phone or device will ding and vibrate when the timer goes off.

"Grilling should be fun and easy and not bogged down with time consuming preparation and confusion," said Brooke Jones, Weber marketing manager. "At Weber, we aim to educate our consumers on how to become better grillers with a wealth of knowledge including recipes, techniques, and guides. With this new application we take it one step further, bringing grilling into the age of cutting-edge technology with many instructional features such as demonstration videos that illustrate key grilling lessons like how to set up a two-zone charcoal fire. It's a mobile grilling companion that you can take with you wherever you go."

In addition to the 250 triple-tested, classic recipes featured on Weber's On the Grill application, there are also recipes for 40 rubs, marinades, and sauces; 100 quick grilling tips; and grilling guides for red meat, pork, poultry, seafood, veggies, and fruit. Techniques are bountiful with information on grilling basics such as dealing with flare-ups, food preparation like positioning chickens on a rotisserie, and grilling safety and maintenance. Short demonstration videos are also included as well as the ability to tag favorite recipes and techniques. Add as many recipes to the grocery list as you like. The app will then sort the ingredients into an itemized list organized by category to facilitate shopping. A simple check box lets you mark off items as you shop.

"We are extremely excited about this addition to our grilling repertoire. With this new application from Weber, every person can be a backyard hero and grill meals to perfection," Jones said.

Weber also offers free recipes and grilling advice on Weber.com and through the popular "Recipe of the Week" email delivered to registered members each Friday. For more information about this new Weber's On the Grill™ application, go to www.weber.com/onthegrill.
