Ralph Parkman
Ralph G. Parkman, founder of manufacturers rep group Parkman Associates, died April 25.
       
During his career, Parkman was continuously in furniture sales representation, selling both casual indoor/outdoor furniture and case goods in six Mid-Atlantic states. Parkman and his father, L.B. Parkman, began Parkman Associates in August 1951 in Exton, Pa.
       
“It can be said Ralph did things his way, however always with dedication, determination and dignity,” said Randy Adams, president, Parkman Associates. “He is worthy of our recognition as well as our heartfelt thanks for a job well done.”

Fred Tarkington
John Fred Tarkington, founder and CEO of Tarkington Showroom and Mister T’s Patio, Nashville, and of Bradford Showroom, Memphis, died Feb. 28. He was 79.
       
Tarkington began his career at Davis Cabinet, where he was assigned to the New York/Philadelphia territory and served as the company’s leading salesman for 10 years. He later became well-known for his work in the casual furniture industry as well as the Nashville community. He served on the boards of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, First Tennessee Bank, Better Business Bureau, American Red Cross and Boys & Girls Club of Nashville. At the time of his death, he held active memberships in Downtown Rotary, Belle Meade Country Club and University Club, New York.
