Twitchell aids big cat refuge

Dothan, Ala.-based Twitchell Corporation has provided shade fabrics for an enclosed big cat sanctuary at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Ark.
This animal refuge is the home of rescued big cats, including lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, bobcats and lynx. Since these animals were previously rescued from domesticated situations, they are more comfortable within an enclosed habitat.
Twitchell’s Earthtex exterior shade fabrics replaced the sanctuary’s former shade fabric and will shield the animals from the sun and heat. The refuge provides the cats with a cool, comfortable and safe place to rest.
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge was founded in 1992 by the Jackson family, which has dedicated its efforts to protecting the rights of the big cats and providing a home for these animals. Twitchell staff members were inspired when they heard of this facility and wanted to assist in protecting these rescued animals.
Twitchell’s shade material offers a considerably more livable environment compared to sweltering in the sun. Twichell's products fit the refuge’s needs perfectly and its team eagerly worked with Turpentine Creek to meet their needs.
Laurie Vanderwal, a staff zoologist at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, said she was pleased with the material’s performance and thankful for Twitchell’s support. For more information on the facility, visit www.turpentinecreek.org.
