Padma's Plantation contributes to Hilton Head Heroes House

Staff -- Casual Living, 7/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

Chicago-based Padma's Plantation recently donated furnishings and accessories to the Hilton Head Hero House on Hilton Head Island, S.C. The house is provided as vacation lodging by Hilton Head Heroes, a nonprofit organization that brings children with life-threatening or serious illnesses, and their families, to Hilton Head Island for an expenses-paid resort vacation.

The cause hit close to home for Kevin Sypolt, Padma's Plantation's vice president of sales. "In 1989, my younger brother, Brian, passed away after battling a rare form of cancer for five years," Sypolt said. "During his illness, my parents took Brian across the country, seeking the latest experimental treatments. Since then, our family has donated time and money for cancer research, and the cause continues to remain very close to our hearts. When Padma's Plantation was approached to donate furnishings to the Hilton Head Heroes House, I eagerly accepted. We're very happy to be a part of creating comfortable lodging for sick children and their families while they vacation on Hilton Head."

Hilton Head Heroes has been providing island vacations for six years. In the past, host families donated the use of their island villas for the families' lodging. This month, the newly acquired three-bedroom Hilton Head Hero House will begin welcoming families for weeklong vacations.

Padma's Plantation donated two Abaca Weave Headboards, a Basket Weave Headboard, a Borneo Chair, three Havana End Tables, two Urban Chairs, one Bali Round End Table, one Rattan Coffee Table, four Rattan Rolling Ottomans, two Bali Wing Chairs, and two Bookcases with Hyacinth and Rattan Peel Baskets (images available upon request). The furniture will be used in the guest bedrooms, the great room and the study.

Headquartered in Chicago, Padma's Plantation specializes in accessory and furniture pieces with plantation, tropical, Latin-inspired, outdoor and contemporary themes.

The company has permanent showrooms in Atlanta, High Point and Las Vegas. Its collections are also sold in rep showrooms in Chicago, Dallas, Denver and San Francisco.

Padma's Plantation donated more than 10 pieces of furniture to the Hilton Head Hero House.
