Jewels of Java honors fallen Marine

-- Casual Living, 9/28/2009 9:38:00 AM

Jewels of Java recently participated in a Memorial Golf Tournament in Central Square, N.Y.
The tournament was held Sept. 6 in memory of Marine Capt. Phil Dykeman, who was killed in Iraq on June 26, 2008. Dykeman had been a good friend of Brent Crane, a Jewels of Java sales representative. Crane and his daughter also have trained for the past year to run the Marine Corps Marathon in Dykeman’s memory.

The Jewels of Java team included, Shipping and Service Manager Jim Santacrose, left, Eli Simeon, Karel Simeon and Crane.

Jewels of Java owner Karel Simeon said it was an honor to field a Jewels of Java team to play in the memorial golf tournament, which raised more than $2,000 in Dykeman’s memory. The funds are used to offer scholarships to students in Dykeman’s hometown of Central Square, just north of Jewels of Java’s headquarters.
