Fall weather returns

-- Casual Living, 11/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Last year, November trended colder than the prior year for 64% of the nation, but still averaged as the 14th warmest in 112 years of records.

The month started off with very cold conditions nationwide along with a few early snowstorms in the Midwest, Rocky Mountains and Seattle.

Northern Florida also saw the earliest occurrence of snow since 1912 on the 21st.

This year, our forecast suggests the current weak/moderate La Niña will continue through the end of this month.

The warm October spell is expected to come to an end and settle into a more traditional late fall weather pattern by the second week of the month.

Outdoor living and leisure activities will end early this month for nearly everyone not located in the South. It will be time to shift gears to holiday decorations and gift categories.

Drier weather should be a bonus for store traffic along the East Coast this month but wetter weather across much of the rest of the nation could dampen activity.
