Dabol debuts casual brand

Staff -- Casual Living, 8/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

Dabol recently incorporated New River Casual Furniture and established its U.S. corporate headquarters and distribution center in Norfolk, Va.

Retailers were able to view select pieces of New River's Outdoor Lifestyle Collection during the July 13–15 premarket at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The pieces are part of an extensive product launch to be rolled out at the International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market in September.

The company imports casual furniture made of Brazilian cherry and Brazilian maple from Dabol, with a manufacturing facility in Parana, Brazil. Dabol has been a supplier to the U.S. market for more than 12 years, primarily through Tyndall Creek.

"For years, retailers and end consumers have recognized the outstanding quality, value, comfort and style that Dabol's furniture collections offered," Vice President of Sales and Marketing Michael Mettendorf said. "Now, Dabol is taking that commitment one step further by working directly with U.S. retailers through the New River Casual Furniture brand to further make its premium casual furniture collection and supply chain available to the domestic market."

New River also joined the American Home Furnishings Alliance, the industry's advocate before elected officials and regulatory officials.

"The organization has a proven track record of representing the furniture industry's interests and stimulating long-term economic growth and development," Mettendorf said. "We believe what's good for the industry is good for the New River brand."
