Tervis Tumbler CEO Laura Spencer was promoted to the position of president and CEO as the North Venice, Fla.-based company ended 2009 as its strongest year ever.
Norbert Donelly, chairperson of the board, made the announcement during one of the company’s monthly Town Hall meetings. He said the promotion will help to define his and Spencer’s roles in leading the company. Donelly and the Board of Directors will continue to provide the overall vision and mission for the company and Spencer will lead the company in the implementation of the strategy.
“I am honored to have the support of the board and appreciate the confidence they have in my ability to lead this great company,” Spencer said. “We have been experiencing amazing growth over the past years and I look forward to leading Tervis to even greater heights in the years to come.”
Spencer joined Tervis Tumbler in 1997 as controller and was promoted to the positions of chief financial officer and chief operating officer, respectively, before taking the reins as chief executive officer in November 2006.
Tervis Tumbler, a family-owned American company, has been producing quality drinkware since 1946. Using the insulating properties of air, Tervis’ double-walled tumblers keep hot drinks hotter and cold drinks colder longer than traditional drinkware. They are also dishwasher-, microwave- and freezer-safe and carry a comprehensive lifetime guarantee. Tervis tumblers can be found at 6,000 retail outlets nationwide, including many Bed, Bath & Beyond and Bealls locations along with their four company stores in Florida and on the Web at www.tervis.com.
