China dominates casual furniture imports

U.S. imports of outdoor furniture continues to grow, increasing 7% last year to $2.3 billion, compared to $2.15 billion in 2006, according to the latest data from the U.S. Customs Service, U.S. International Trade Commission and Casual Living market research.
Made in China describes more than three-fourths of all casual furniture being imported in America. China's share of this market grew 9% to $1.79 billion from $1.64 billion in 2006.
Market shares of other major source countries declined. Canada's share fell 4% for a total of $116 million compared with $120.6 million in 2006. Indonesia's share dropped 18%, amounting to just over $70 million versus $86 million in 2006.
