Outdura adds more fabric resources

Staff -- Casual Living, 9/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Outdura by Shuford Mills has launched three new resources for casual furniture manufacturers and retailers as well as the marine and awning segment.

Outdura's inaugural sample book features 146 decorative jacquards, solids and stripes, which are featured in four merchandised story collections: Coastal Cues, Spice of Life, Trail Mix and Neutral Territory.

In addition, the Essentials Collection features 39 colors in its 8-ounce solid fabric line. All fabric represented in both sample books carries Outdura's five-year warranty and features many styles which exceed a minimum of 60,000 double rubs of abrasion, far exceeding the demands of the hospitality and contract markets.

A new marine and awning card features 49 color offerings for 9 ΒΌ-ounce marine fabrics and carries a six-year warranty. The 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabric, available in solids and tweeds, is durable enough to withstand years of exposure on land or water. In addition to new colors for the marine market, many of the new additional colors in this weight are designed to coordinate with Outdura's casual furniture fabrics so homeowners, designers and contract specifiers can match awnings, canopies and umbrellas with their casual furniture. Outdura leaders believe this ability matched with the increasing popularity of outdoor living spaces is an important aspect of the overall value proposition for consumers.

"Shuford Mills is committed to the continued growth of the Outdura brand," said Natalie Scott, Outdura vice president, customer development. "Through product innovation and customer care, we are focused on providing our customer base with the best performing solution dyed acrylic fabrics available in the casual furniture, marine and awning market segments."

A new Web site, www.textileconnect.com, was recently developed by N.C. State University's College of Textiles as an information warehouse for textile product and fabric market information from various government, industry and academic sources. The site provides another resource for anyone interested in home fabrics, performance or specialty textile segments.
