National Hardware Show moves to Orlando for 2007 only

Waits for Vegas expansion

-- Casual Living, 12/19/2005 7:36:00 AM

In 2006, the National Hardware Show will remain at the Las Vegas Convention Center. In 2007, the Orange County Convention Center will host the National Hardware Show on May 8-10 in Orlando, Fla. In 2008, the National Hardware Show returns to Las Vegas, after both the Sands Expo and Las Vegas Convention Center complete their expansions in 2007, and will remain there for the next several years.
"The National Hardware Show has grown by over 220,000 square feet over the past three years, and as we look at our 2007 projections, we will surpass the available space at the Las Vegas Convention Center," said Rob Cappiello, industry vice president, National Hardware Show. "Orlando is one of the few cities that can accommodate a show as large as ours, and we have been impressed with the Orange County Convention Center's facility to welcome us with open arms."
George Little Management's Las Vegas Gourmet Housewares Show and the Paint and Decorating Retailers Association also plan to co-locate their events with the National Hardware Show.
Plans for expansion in Las Vegas have enabled show management to keep Las Vegas and Orlando top of mind as destinations to accommodate an event the growing size of the National Hardware Show.
"There are limited venues in the U.S. where we can comfortably fit," Cappiello said. "And factoring in the needs and desires of our customers very carefully in making venue decisions is paramount. Therefore, we are comfortable with the current venue decisions for the future."
Plans are well underway for the 2006 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas. The 61st annual National Hardware Show is preparing for a full house at its Las Vegas event May 9-11, 2006, with more than 2 million square feet of floor space at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  At the 2005 show, more than 3,200 exhibitors displayed thousands of new products across some 681,191 square feet of exhibit space. Attendance in 2005 increased by an estimated 30%.
