The Chicago Athenaeum Museum’s Good Design Award went to the little-partner side table from Altra Design, making it the second in Altra Design’s product range to be acknowledged by the international design community.

The little-partner also was nominated for the 2009 Designpreis, awarded by the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, Altra Design was invited to participate with the little-partner from June through September at the Good Design Show at the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies in Athens.

Created for Altra Design by a partnership of designers Peter Solomon and Toshi Satoji, the little-partner now joins the company’s altra-ergo outdoor chair in the Chicago Athenaeum Museum’s permanent collection. The jury of the Good Design award cited the table’s versatility and its clarity of design in setting it apart from ordinary resin furniture.

The little-partner’s top features a photo-engraved wave pattern which is scratch resistant and prevents dirt accumulation. The use of premium grade polypropylene ensures durability of the table, which can optimize the space on a small terrace or by the pool. Charming as a coffee table, playful as a table for children, sturdy as a TV stand or used simply as an end table, the little-partner is available in four colors: ivory, blue, green and anthracite.

For Altra Design, the Good Design award represents further recognition of the company’s philosophy of producing high quality, elegant products that are affordable. The entire range of Altra Design’s outdoor lifestyle furniture, including the altra-ergo chair and the little-partner, will be displayed Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at the Spoga+gafa trade fair in Cologne, Germany.
