Laneventure celebrates 35 years, debuts Tortuga Craft Console

Staff -- Casual Living, 3/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Laneventure, which opened in 1972 as Venture Furniture, a division of the Lane Company, with initial offerings of complete family room furnishings, celebrated its 35th anniversary at a recent national sales meeting in Charlotte, N.C. The company has evolved to produce full lines of both indoor and outdoor furnishings.

The craft console being introduced as a part of the 31-piece Tortuga Collection is designed as a stylish, space-saving workplace for craft projects. Targeted to consumers in the $25.7 billion craft market being tapped by retailers Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Jo-Anne stores, the console features a fold-out work top and three drawers for storage. The craft market, composed almost two-thirds of women with an average of $74,000 annual income grew 11% last year, far outpacing other retail categories. The console is designed for craft areas set aside by almost eight in 10 of these consumers.

The Tortuga Collection also includes seating and dining furnishings for indoors and outside.

Inspired by British Colonial furnishings, the products are crafted of mahogany and wicker. The collection will be available at retail this summer in more than 70 finishes and 300 fabrics.

The Craft Console is constructed of hand-crafted wood combined with cane, and features a gate leg and flip top surface.
