As Tervis Tumbler Company celebrates its 60th anniversary, the North Venice, Fla.-based insulated drinkware manufacturer also toasts record-breaking sales and some high-profile recognition in 2006.

The privately owned company’s 2006 sales growth was 38% through September. A snapshot of Tervis’ accolades so far this year follows. Monogrammed Tervis Tumblers were featured on NBC’s The Today Show on Tuesday, Oct. 17, during a segment on personalized gifts for the holidays. The Collegiate Licensing Company, one of the nation’s top sports licensing firms, has recently ranked Tervis Tumbler as its top-selling collegiate product in the Housewares industry. Collegiate Tervis Tumblers feature officially licensed school emblems inside the two tumbler walls. Tervis also offers a growing line of licensed collegiate ice buckets. GiftBeat, a gift-industry trade publication, has rated Tervis Tumbler among the top-selling products nationwide in its last several issues. In July, Tervis made the Top 10 in the Outdoor Products category, as well as in Graduation Gifts. In its September issue, GiftBeat rated Tervis a Top 10 product in the Personalized Products category. The October issue rated Tervis a Top 10 Men’s Gift item and it consistently lists the company among the top most-requested phone numbers/Web sites by retailers across the country. At the Casual Furniture Show in September, Tervis Tumbler Company was named as a finalist for the Manufacturer’s Leadership Award, Accessories Category. The award, presented by the Casual Furniture Retailers Association, is voted on by retailers in the casual furniture industry, from coast to coast. On the local level, Tervis was named 2006 Company of the Year by the Sarasota County Economic Development Corporation at its annual Hall of Fame Awards, held in September. Of 54 companies nominated county-wide, Tervis took the top award. In May, the company was also named 2006 Business of the Year, large business category, by the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce.  Tervis Tumbler has manufactured its trademark line of insulated drinkware since 1946. Now based in North Venice, Fla., the company moved from nearby Osprey to its new headquarters and manufacturing facility in October 2005 to accommodate strong growth and long-term strategic planning goals.
