Global Surroundings to debut reclaimed teak furniture in Las Vegas

Staff -- Casual Living, 7/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

Global Surroundings will introduce teak furniture designed for outdoor and indoor living at the World Market Center in Las Vegas July 25–29.

"People today entertain family and friends in a casual and relaxed atmosphere that flows both inside and outside of the home," said J.L. Jackson, Global Surroundings president. "We have introduced the Rustic Mission Collection as the first truly indoor and outdoor solution for expanding entertaining lifestyles.

Global Surroundings, a designer, manufacturer and importer of reclaimed teak from Indonesia, decided the Las Vegas Market would be the perfect venue to introduce its furniture to the North American market and unveil its new line in booth C1442.

J.L. and Jay Jackson founded Global Surroundings in 1998 after living and traveling in Southeast Asia for several years. They buy old teak homes in Java from families moving into brick homes, and build furniture from old wood and natural fibers without damage to the rainforest.

Earlier this year, Global Surroundings developed a new high-end collection for outdoor use and showed it in March to buyers at Robb & Stucky, Scottsdale, Ariz., who purchased it immediately, Jay Jackson said. The Minneapolis, Minn.-based company has a warehouse in Hopkins, Minn., open by appointment.
