Market introductions

Courtney Mueller -- Casual Living, 3/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Textillery Weavers expanded its collection of high-performance Sunbrella throws with windowpane and contemporary stripe designs. “Our licensed Sunbrella collection offers tremendous sales opportunities to home furnishings and accessories retailers and designers,” said Judith Rose, head designer for Textillery Weavers. “In addition, we are excited to debut our line of ‘green’ throws, which are hand-woven with environmentally responsible materials.” Textillery Weavers showcased its expanding collection of washable and custom order throw designs during the May 10-12 Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas.

Sieger Design introduced the Under the Tree garden shower for German furnishings company Conmoto. The shower is a clever design piece that offers all the functions needed for an outdoor shower. The fixture can be fitted quickly and securely, and the water supply is provided by connecting a garden hose directly to it. The branches, which extend upward, provide enough space for multiple towels. Under the Tree is made from stainless steel and retails for $2,600.
Available in several new colors to separate from a sea of stainless steel, Weber’s Genesis 320 gas grill features 507 square inches of primary cooking area, plus a flush-mounted side burner.
From Design Discoveries International, a new addition to the Thayer Hopkins Architectural Collection includes a sofa wrapped in a comfort vest of marine-grade, open-cell foam to create a sculptural form.
Fire Stone Home Products added the Crystal Fire system to its Chat fire set, featuring a stainless steel burner covered with tempered glass, an English granite top, removable granite Lazy Susan-style fire pit cover, and a propane tank cover that functions as a side table with English Granite top.
Two Dog Designs added a line of designer outdoor furniture covers to its product line and, in response to the company’s expansion beyond the grill market, has changed its name to Two Dog Designs for Outdoor Living. The furniture covers are waterproof and weather-resistant, made of heavyweight polyester with PVC lining, and come in a variety of patterns and sizes, including covers for high back chairs, chaises, love seats, patio umbrellas, 84-inch round tables/chairs and 92- and 110-inch oval or rectangular tables/chairs. Umbrella covers, zippered for easy use, also are in the line..
Combining contemporary design with the popular trend of deep seating, Canoe by Veneman Collections features graceful curves along the frames, with two roomy lounge chairs and a shared ottoman that fit together, forming the shape of a more modern, spacious canoe.
Shady Lady’s new Harbor Side Collection of outdoor floor and table lamps are created from a java-colored, hand-woven Viro wicker, completely insensitive to change in temperature.
The Laurie Bell Company has teamed up with Brown Jordan to accent collections with fabrics in the latest colors and textures – Ginkgoes, Ginkgo Vine and new Aquatic textures from Shuford Mills – Outdura. “My partnership with Brown Jordan …is a great fit for my latest, trend-setting designs which offer the ability to dramatically transform the look of an outdoor space,” said Laurie Jenkins.

The Tortuga sofa was originally influenced by the sleeping porches in Europe’s country homes and villas. Laneventure recreates the sofa for both indoor and outdoor constructions, complete with loose pillow backs and an optional three-button tufted back.
The award-winning Fire Box by Alfra USA is a base module enabling consumers to create an individual fireplace or built-in model. Constructed of stainless steel, the Fire Box features simple design and contemporary style.

Palecek debuted additional outdoor-friendly designs, including the Bamboo club chair, crafted of bronze wrought iron with gold bamboo nodes accents. Suggested retail with outdoor fabric and cushions is $1,316.
