Finalists announced for Housewares Design Awards

Categories include lighting, home decor and outdoor living, and tabletop

Honoring design excellence for the art of living, the Housewares Design Awards has announced the finalists for its fifth annual competition.  These products, chosen for design innovation, functionality and visual appeal, represent the best designed new product in 13 categories of housewares, including lighting, home decor and outdoor living, and tabletop.
 
The premiere design award focused on the housewares industry, the Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business, with educational support from the International Housewares Association and sponsorship by George Little Management and DuPont Teflon.
 
Sixty-five finalists were chosen by an independent panel of judges who looked for superior design, appearance, function and originality in making their selection.  Performance, ergonomic comfort, ease-of-use, safety, innovative materials and technology and market response were also considered. Products judged were introduced to the United States market between October 1, 2006 and September 30, 2007.
 
The “Best of Category” winners will be announced at a Housewares Design Awards presentation ceremony and luncheon on Wed., Feb. 6, 2008, at the New York Marriott Marquis overlooking New York City’s Times Square. Leading retailers, housewares industry executives and consumer media will attend this event.
 
In the Lighting, Home Décor and Outdoor Living category,  Housewares Design Awards 2008 Finalists include: Anji Mountain Bamboo Rug Co., Bamboo Shag Area Rug; Knoend, Lite2go; Outset, Magnetic Light for BBQ Tools; Polder, Indoor / Outdoor Waste Can; and The Frank Group, The WaveBox Portable Microwave Oven.

In the Tabletop category, finalists are bambu, bambu KIDS baby utensils; Bodum, BISTRO double wall glass line; Kuhn Rikon Corp., Vase Oil & Vinegar Cruet; Lifetime Brands Inc., Barren 20-piece flatware set; and Prodyne Enterprises Inc., Cold Bowl On Ice.
